So Bad : Court summons Awujale over Chieftaincy title.

Justice A.O Asenuga has summoned Awujale and Paramount ruler of Ijebuland Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona as one of the witnesses in the case of head of the Fusengbuwa ruling house currently before the court.

A claimant Otunba Abdul-lateef Owoyemi a member of the Fusengbuwa ruling which is one of the four ruling houses producing candidate for the stool of Awujale in Ijebu-ode has dragged Otunba Michael Olasubomi Balogun founder of the first City Monument Bank (FCMB) who was made the head of the ruling house in 2014 to court challenging his leadership of the ruling house after he (Owoyemi) has been installed by the family in 2013.

In the case instituted by Owoyemi and four others in 2014,the claimant is seeking the prayer of the court among others to be dully recognized as the authentic head of the Fusengbuwa ruling house.

Justice Asenuga gave her nod to counsel of the defendant,to invite Awujale of Ijebuland Oba S.K Adetona to appear before the court to give evidence on whom should be recognized as the authentic head of the disputed ruling house.

Counsel to the defendant, Tunji Ayanlaja SAN,had told the court on Wednesday that he intended to bring Awujale as one of his three witnesses he is bringing to give credence to his submissions.




The claimant counsel,Balogun Adesegun Adebayo had close his case on the matter.

While ruling on whether or not a publication of a local magazine "the Roots Magazine" should be admissible as evidence before the court which the defence counsel Tunji Ayanlaja had earlier opposed,Justice Asenuga overruled the argument of the defence counsel saying the publication is admissible before the court citing several sections of the evidence Act and Nigeria Library Act and admitted the said document as Exhibit Y(1).

The defence counsel had earlier oppose tendering such Newspaper magazine as evidence before the court on the premise that it was not registered with the National Library of Nigeria in line with the act regulating such operations and that the publisher should be supbeaned to the court to come and give evidence on the matter.

The claimant counsel, Balogun Segun Adebayo opposed the application but Justice A.O Asenuga dismissed the submission of the defence counsel.

Awujale of Ijebuland is to now appear in court after due consultation with the monarch by the defence counsel on a date that will be communicated to the court.

The defendant, Otunba Michael Olasubomi Balogun,His wife and four other traditional rulers in Ijebuland appeared in court.
