Memphis Depay has aimed a sly dig at Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho following the latter's decision to sell the Dutchman to Lyon.

The winger has sprung to life since swapping Old Trafford for Parc Olympique Lyonnais, scoring five times in nine Ligue 1 outings for the French side, including one stellar strike from the half-way line.

Depay found it difficult to find the same form at United, however, leading to long spells on the sidelines and ultimately being cut from the squad, with Jose Mourinho preferring other options at the front of his attack.

“I didn’t understand [Mourinho], he told beINSPORTS. “But he’s the boss. I was just not good enough for him. That’s OK. I’ll show my quality here.”
